ABET accreditation is assurance that a college or university program meets the quality standards established by the profession for which it prepares its students. For example, an accredited engineering program must meet the quality standards set by the engineering profession. ABET accredits postsecondary degree-granting programs housed within regionally accredited institutions. ABET accredits programs only, not departments, colleges, or institutions.

The Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, a school with the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University, has adopted the following Program Educational Objectives and Student Outcomes for the training of our undergraduates pursuing a Bachelor of Science (SB) in Electrical Engineering:
Program Educational Objectives
Graduates of the Electrical Engineering program are prepared to address current and future societal challenges through the application of engineering principles using knowledge from the sciences, arts, and humanities in a wide-range of professional fields, including engineering (particularly electrical engineering), law, medicine, public policy, education, design, entrepreneurship, and business practice. To meet the needs of our constituents, our Program Education Objectives state that within a few years of graduation our graduates will have:
- Demonstrated technical competence, including design and problem-solving skills, leading to success in a diverse range of careers or fields of graduate study;
- Shown a commitment to working on solutions to problems with global, economic, environmental, and societal impacts;
- Been successful in a range of leadership and teamwork roles and fostered environments inclusive of a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives;
- Shown a commitment to lifelong learning through the pursuit of advanced degrees, professional certification, or knowledge of contemporary issues and recent advances in their field.
Student Outcomes
- An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
- An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
- An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
- An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
- An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environmental, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
- An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions
- An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies
Enrollment and Graduation Data for Electrical Engineering Bachelor of Science
The Electrical Engineering Bachelor of Science program graduated 9 students in academic year 2023-24; 9 students in 2022-23; 7 students in 2021-22; 5 students in 2020-21; 9 students in 2019-20; and 19 students in 2018-19. The number of enrolled concentrators (sophomores through seniors) in the program was 33 in academic year 2023-24; 34 in 202-23; 33 in 2021-22; 20 in 2020-21; 30 in 2019-20; and 45 in 2018-2019. These numbers include students in the Electrical Engineering Bachelor of Science program only.
