The Communications Office is responsible for overseeing the branding of all of the School's publications, websites, and visual collateral. Our goal is to support consistency, the proper use of our name and seal, and to highlight accomplishments of our community.

Formal Name

  • Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences

The full name should always be used on first reference, both in all written documents as well as verbally when giving one's affiliation in a talk.

Other Correct Uses of Name

The following may be used on second reference, after the first use of the formal name.

  • SEAS (when context is provided)
  • Harvard SEAS
  • Harvard Engineering
  • Harvard School of Engineering

Incorrect uses of name

Please refrain from using the following.

  • Harvard University, John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences 

Affiliations

For the purpose of publications, biographies, name tags, etc. the preferred protocol is to use the full name of the school, Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

We acknowledge that faculty, students, and researchers are also members of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and of Harvard University.

Use-of-Name Policies
