Hammer earns NSF CAREER Award

Hammer receives the organization’s most prestigious award for young faculty members

Jessica Hammer, A.B. ’99 (computer science), has received a National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development Award, the organization’s most prestigious award for young faculty members.

Hammer, the Thomas and Lydia Moran Assistant Professor of Learning Science in the Carnegie Mellon University School of Computer Science’s Human-Computer Interaction Institute, received a $550,000 award to support her work on creating learning-supportive game-streaming interfaces.

Her proposed project will incorporate learning theory into the design of a more interactive viewer interface for the game streaming website Twitch.tv.
