Ka Yee C. Lee, S.M. ’87, Ph.D. ’92 (applied physics), has been appointed provost of the University of Chicago, effective Feb. 1.
Lee joined UChicago in 1998 as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry. She was appointed full professor in 2008 and has served as vice provost for research since August, 2018.
Her research focuses on membrane biophysics; her lab studies the interactions between lipids and proteins to gain a better understanding of respiratory distress syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease.
