Marie desJardins, A.B. ’85 (engineering and computer science) wrote an op/ed titled “All kids should have a computer science education” that was published by the Baltimore Sun.
In the article, desJardins argues that states should introduce students to computational thinking during their K-12 education, and incorporate computer science as a high school graduation requirement.
DesJardins, who also holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of California, Berkeley, is Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, and Professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
