Benjamin Franta, Ph.D. ’16 (applied physics), wrote an article on global warming and the oil industry that was published by The Guardian.
His article tells the story of Edward Teller, a Hungarian-born nuclear weapons physicist who warned about the dangers of global warming from increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere during a 1959 speech to oil industry executives.
Franta, currently pursuing a Ph.D. in history of science at Stanford University, studies the history of climate change science and politics.
