Andrew Chung, A.B. '99 (applied math) recently launched a new company, 1955 Capital, aimed at investing in U.S. and European tech companies that can help solve challenges in the developing world. The firm recently raised $200 million from a group of investors.
The firm will focus on energy, food, agriculture, health, education, and sustainable manufacturing. Chung sees 1955 Capital as a "cultural bridge" that can assist management teams in evaluating and potentially entering China, India, and other emerging markets.
