CS master’s candidates from SEAS named among 2009 Siebel Scholars

PALO ALTO, Calif.—October 7, 2008—The Siebel Foundation today announced the recipients of the annual Siebel Scholars scholarship awards.

Computer science master’s candidates Neil Jhaveri and Daniel Shteremberg, both of the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, were among the winners.

Jhaveri is currently working as a consultant for a healthcare technology startup to develop an IT system designed to help doctors and patients manage chronic diseases. His past work experience includes a position as Sr. Software Engineer at Corporate Zen, Inc. in Arlington, VA, where he designed software applications for company clients and mentored other members of the development team. He graduated cum laude after completing a double B.S. program in Computer Science and Finance from the University of Maryland at College Park.

Shteremberg is currently working as a software development intern for EMC Corporation in Southborough, MA, where he designed and developed a new software tool used by EMC hardware and software developers. During the summer of 2007 he interned at Bloomberg LP in New York, where he developed software for Bloomberg’s financial computer system. He has a B.S in Computer Engineering from Tufts University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.

The Siebel Scholars program recognizes outstanding graduate students from the world’s most prestigious business and computer science schools. Based on academic merit and leadership excellence, five graduate students from each institution are honored as Class of 2009 Siebel Scholars and received a $25,000 award for their final year of graduate studies.

The Siebel Scholars program was established by the Siebel Foundation in 2000 to recognize the most talented students at the world’s leading graduate schools of business and computer science. Over the past eight years, the Siebel Scholars program has created a community of over 450 Scholars that fosters personal leadership, academic achievement, and the collaborative search for solutions to pressing societal problems. Siebel Scholars are key advisors to the Siebel Foundation, guiding the development of innovative programs the Foundation initiates.
